£1000 competition comes to Scotland

child-1Following the successful launch of the ‘create a campaign‘ competition at the ’10 years of a child’s life – saved!’ event in London on 4 February, a similar event will be held on 17 February in Holyrood, Edinburgh, in partnership with Police Scotland.

Scottish schools now have the opportunity to win £1000 by creating a blueprint for a campaign to run in their area, either discouraging their peers from smoking and drinking, or encouraging local businesses to follow their legal obligations and not sell age-restricted products to children.

The event will also celebrate trading standards’ work in tackling underage sales across Scotland, and will be introduced by Dave Thompson MSP. Speakers include minister for public health Maureen Watt, member of Scottish youth parliament Jordan Linden and Trading Standards Institute CEO Leon Livermore.
