In preparation for the council meeting scheduled for Thursday 26 March, TSI Policy Director Melissa Dring outlines the future of trading standards as backed by numerous pieces of evidence gathered in the last year.
The soon-to-be detailed TSI Vision creates a future for trading standards based on the most effective use of resources available in all areas. Based on information from the Workforce Survey which was released in spring 2014, we know trading standards services in England and Wales have been cut by an average of 40 per cent over the lifetime of this parliament. The question is, what can we do to address these shortages going forward?
After assessing the facts, TSI has come up with a plan for the future of trading standards that will be presented to the consumer minister after the May election. Here’s what Dring has to say about the Vision.
